Trusting God When Life Feels Out of Control
Have you ever felt like life was taking you on a ride you didn’t sign up for?
Maybe you're in a season where everything feels delayed, unpredictable, or just plain overwhelming. If that’s you, I see you. I’ve been there too.
Not long ago, I found myself stuck at the airport, waiting for a flight that was delayed for six long hours. I was exhausted before the journey even began. And when we finally took off? Yep..turbulence. Again.
Now, I’m not sure why most of my recent flights have been so bumpy, but let’s just say I’ve had enough mid-air roller coasters for a lifetime. Statistically speaking, flying is still safer than driving, but tell that to my nerves when we’re dropping through the sky with nothing but clouds holding us up.
At one point, the pilot calmly announced to the cabin crew: “Flight attendants, please take your seats. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.”
Translation? Buckle up, folks. It’s about to get real.
And there I was—no exit, no parachute, no way to say, “Excuse me, I’d like to get off now.”
All I could do was surrender.
My thoughts were spiraling, my heart racing. But in that moment, I whispered a prayer for peace. I repeated verses I knew by heart. I sang quietly to myself. I reminded my soul of God's promises—because honestly, the news of recent plane crashes wasn’t helping.
It got worse before it got better. Tornado warnings. Thick fog. Zero visibility. When I looked out the window, I couldn’t even see the ground beneath us. Just darkness.
I remember thinking, “Lord, I don’t even know where I am.”
But then it hit me: I didn’t need to know. Because God did.
Speaking Life in the Storm
How often do we find ourselves in moments like this?
Moments where we feel suspended in mid-air, not sure what’s ahead, not sure if we’re even going to make it through. Maybe you’re facing delays in your life—dreams deferred, prayers unanswered, doors not opening. Or maybe everything around you just feels chaotic.
Here’s the truth you need to hold onto:
Delays don’t mean God has forgotten you. Turbulence doesn’t mean He’s lost control.
So instead of giving fear the mic, speak life.
Speak the Word.
Remind yourself of who God is—even when you can’t see the way forward.
Because just like that pilot who safely landed us despite the storm, God knows exactly where you are—and where He’s taking you.
Your Storm Has a Shepherd
So if you’re in a season of uncertainty, I encourage you:
Take a deep breath.
Hold on to God’s promises.
And remember—what feels out of control to you is never out of His hands.
Let Him lead. Let Him comfort you in the chaos. Trust that the turbulence won’t last forever, and that He will carry you safely through.
